Back-To-School sales bring a lot of great deals, and the best news is that you don’t have to actually be a student to enjoy most of them! Here’s a list of items you should be shopping for this month to maximize your savings!

1. Office Supplies

This one is a no brainer. Many office supplies will be on sale this month, and the best news is that these items are just as useful to office professionals as they are for students. There aren’t many people out there who don’t at some point during their day make use of pens, pencils, post it notes, paper clips, highlighters, or a notebook. This is a great time of year to stock up while prices are low.

2. Craft Supplies

Do you have any hobbies that involve craft supplies? Do you like to paint, draw, or scrapbook? Because this month there are going to be a lot of sales on markers, construction paper, colored pencils, paint supplies, scissors, glue, tape, and sharpies. Keep an eye out for hot prices on the types of craft supplies you are running low on!

3. Small Appliances

Does back to school shopping make you think sales are aimed at K-12 aged children? Many of them are, but you are forgetting a group of students that are much more relatable to adults – college students! This is the first time that many of these students are going to be moving away from home and living on their own. This means that retailers will be offering great prices on many dorm and apartment sized small appliances including things like mini fridges, microwaves, and coffee pots. Now is a great time to buy a mini fridge for your man cave or a new coffee pot for the office.

4. Clothing

Clothing will be on sale this month both because of back to school sales and end of the summer season sales. You certainly don’t have a to be a student to pick up a couple new great priced outfits!

5. Backpacks

Sure students use backpacks on a daily basis, but many adults do too. Do you ride a bike to get to work or to get around town? A new backpack is a great way to carry your stuff on a bike. Do you ever like to take your laptop over to a coffee shop to get some work done? A backpack with a specific laptop sleeve might be easier to carry than an oversized purse or suitcase. Do you travel frequently?

A backpack is, hands down, the most useful carry-on piece of luggage you could own. You can easily organize a travel backpack with your laptop, camera, and other expensive electronics (that you don’t want to leave in a checked bag), your kindle (for entertainment on the plane), you passports and plane tickets (so you don’t risk them falling out of your back pocket), some snacks, and your sweatshirt (because it always seems to get cold on flights!).

6. Computers, Printers, and Accessories

Have you been meaning to buy a new computer, printer, keyboard, computer mouse, monitor, or related cables? Many of these types of items are marked down this month for back to school sales.

7. Dorm sized TVs

Not everyone has room in their house for a 75” TV (and if you do have room you probably already have one!). But there are plenty of uses for 30-40” TVs as well like in a bedroom, kitchen, or home office. These mid sized TVs will be on sale specifically for students moving into new dorm rooms and apartments this month. But you won’t have to be a student to take advantage of the savings!

8. Storage and Organization

Who doesn’t have a room in their house in dire need of organizational supplies? I know that I have a “storage room” that is basically a collection of all the items that don’t go anywhere else, in no particular order. I hate having to go through that room, it’s so hard to find anything! Well I guess I’m in luck, because this month many storage and organizational supplies will be on sale. This includes things like shelving units, filing cabinets, folders, and plastic storage containers.

9. Room Decor

Stores like Target, Macy’s, and Walmart will have sales this month on lots of modern room decor items. Many of these items will look just as great in your house as they would in a college student’s apartment, so look for items that fit the feel of your home!

10. Sheets and Bath Towels

This is another item that college students will be buying for themselves for likely the first time as they move out on their own. But the reality is that we all use bed linens, blankets, and bath towels. So if you have been looking to redecorate one of your bedrooms or bathrooms, or even just want to buy some new sheets or towels in your existing home color scheme, then this month is a great time to do so.
